Michel Aoun's Free Patriotic Movement rallies before electionsAdd to Lightbox Download
Former Lebanese General Michel Aoun's Free Patriotic Movement held a rally in Beirut just eight days before parliamentary elections. The 7 June elections are expected to be highly contested, with the governing pro-American March 14 coalition facing pressure from the Hizballah-led March 8 opposition, which Aoun's Free Patriotic Movement is a member of. The rally focused on Lebanon's Metn district just north of Beirut. Metn is expected to be one of the closest races between the Christian parties of both coalitions, as well as independent candidates. ///Supporters of Michel Aoun's Free Patriotic Movement dressed in the party's trademark orange color cheer and wave party flags, as well as Lebanese and other flags belonging to the various groups in the March 8 coalition, including Hizballah. Some make their fingers into a check mark, the logo of the FPM.
